    1. Hi there! I would say in the very beginning, when you are just starting, it is good to take your time and really feel out a pose. At the studio I was going to for life drawing lessons, we would do 15 and 30 minute poses, and I found I really got to feel out the surface of the model in the drawing.

      To improve afterwards, I found learning to draw faster and faster helps you (forces you) to develop methods to block out a figure quickly. A lot of people develop shorthands for expressing certain forms, which you might find yourself as you draw more and more.

      The main thing is to draw fast and a whole lot, it will help you improve quickly, as long as you are still observing your figure at the same time! :)
